KidQuest
A mobile based resource for parent-child play.
This mobile “job aid” simplifies Joseph Campbell’s 12-stage Hero’s Journey into an accessible format for parents. With concise descriptions and relatable Disney examples, I intend this project to demonstrate how complex, multi-step frameworks can become easy-to-use resources that support learners in the moment—whether in the workplace or at home.
I’ve included this project for two reasons.
The project demonstrates how complex frameworks can become easy-to-use digital job aids.
As a parent, I’ve found this framework invaluable for sparking creative play with my own children. I think there are few experiences in life more meaningful than story-driven play.
Professional Use Case
This is simply a mobile learning tool created with Articulate Storyline, but it demonstrates how a job aid can take a complex framework—in this case, the 12 stages of the Hero’s Journey—and distill it into clear, accessible categories with concise explanations and examples. In professional environments, employees are often expected to recall multi-step processes, frameworks, or models and apply that knowledge in real time. Mobile job aids provide quick, on-the-go reinforcement, reducing cognitive load and helping learners apply knowledge without having to memorize every detail before they can see results.
By organizing content in a structured, easy-to-navigate format, this project showcases how solutions like this one can support:
Performance: Helping employees access just-in-time knowledge when they need it.
Knowledge retention: Using short descriptions and memorable examples to make abstract concepts stick.
Scalability: Delivering learning on mobile devices so employees can access it anytime, anywhere.
